Client challenges and operational risks
Loose components, inadequate retention and changes to equipment or work activities can expose people and assets to dropped objects. Effective prevention needs to address technical condition, work practices and human factors together.
Our specialist services
Operational DROPS review
A risk-based review of responsibilities, procedures, records and working practices, combined with representative physical inspections and spot checks. This does not automatically constitute a full inspection of every component.
Comprehensive physical survey
A more detailed physical inspection of defined areas and components. Coverage, inspection registers and access to inspection points are agreed beforehand; inaccessible areas and limitations are recorded.
Programmes and securing verification
DROPS Level 1 and Level 2 programmes using agreed methodology and client requirements. Primary securing, secondary retention, safety wires and equipment at height are reviewed where relevant to the scope.
Rectification, training and closeout
Prioritised findings, specialist rectification support, DROPS training and practical coaching. Corrective actions can be followed through to traceable closeout where included in the assignment.
Typical projects and applications
Dropped object exposure occurs on offshore platforms, drilling rigs, vessels, fabrication yards and industrial facilities. NorthQ tailors survey depth to operating status, work areas and activities rather than assuming one inspection approach suits every asset.
Scope and deliverables
Inspection methods, physical coverage, access arrangements, securing requirements, specialist qualifications and reporting formats are agreed before work starts. Deliverables describe inspected areas, findings, risk priorities, recommended actions and limitations. Rope access arrangements and certified resources are assessed separately for each assignment.
